The move by U.S.-based BDP into Vietnam means it will become a major player in the country’s logistics sector.
The new subsidiary company BDP International (Vietnam) will be a fully integrated unit providing the same technology and customer service.
While the headquarters will be located in Ho Chi Minh City, the company will also have representation in the other commercial centers of Danang and Hanoi.
Managing Director of BDP Asia Pacific, Mike Andaloro, said the company had seen growing demand for Vietnamese produced goods in North America, Europe and other parts of Asia.
“With the changes to foreign ownership laws in 2014, we anticipate there will be an even larger increase in demand as more manufacturers establish themselves in the exciting, vibrant market,” he added.
Andaloro believes there is great potential for chemical logistics in Vietnam, with many companies in the sector looking to build manufacturing plants in the region.
In addition, BDP will target the healthcare, retail, telecom, electronics and other manufacturing industries.
The company also announced the Vietnam launch of its new technology, BDPSmart Vu – a vendor management tool that provides logistics managers with visibility of each stage of an international purchase order.
The technology allows importers to globally manage their upstream vendors and suppliers from one central site.
