DB Schenker, the German division of railway operator, Deutsche Bahn AG, has confirmed the launch of the connect 4.0 shipping platform in the US which allows shippers to get immediate online quotes for all transportation segments, according to Supply Chain Dive.

It is anticipated that customers will be granted with instant access to online quotes for ocean or air freight, book transportation and have the ability to track shipments from pickup to delivery.

In a statement, Richard Ebach, CIO of DB Schenker Americas, said: “The connect 4 application was designed from the customers’ point of view. The goal was to create responsive and intuitive designs that provide immediate quoting, booking and tracking functionality that is expected from a leading digital forwarder.”

Following a competitive race over the past few years digitise freight processes from quotes to tracking, it was revealed that 72% of forwarders still don’t offer online quotes with those that do it manually take around 57 hours, following a Freightos report.

In a press release, DB Schenker confirmed that it is prioritising how to make its process easier for the customer and enable them with a more “user-friendly for booking”.
