NYK together with Yusen Air and Sea Service today announced the launch of Yusen Logistics in Japan. This announcement marks the start of the integration of all NYK Logistics and Yusen Air and Sea Service operations into Yusen Logistics globally.

"Moving ahead, the company will pursue an even higher level of service quality, better tailored to customer needs in the two key business areas of air/ocean freight forwarding and contract logistics,” said Shunichi Yano, Global President of Yusen Logistics.

“We also intend to generate greater customer satisfaction through a host of services according to customers' logistics needs," he added.

The merging of companies comes after overwhelming requests from NYK customers for a 'one-stop service', which offers all distribution functions in one package.

The European integration is due to begin on 1 April 2011. It is hoping to be completed as soon as possible but definitely by no later than 31 March 2012.

The time required in Europe is primarily due to a need to cater for the different regulations and taxation systems in individual European countries.

Further announcements will be made as and when existing European companies convert to Yusen Logistics.

“Yusen Logistics brings together our global expertise in air freight forwarding, ocean freight forwarding, land transportation and customs clearance as well as logistics plan proposal and implementation,” the company said.

Yusen Logistics will be managed globally through five strategic areas that emphasize both the global and local aspects of each area: Japan, East Asia, South Asia & Oceania, Europe and the Americas.
