Independent shipping information portal, Shipper’s Voice announced on Thursday, 16 September that it will be launching a new section on its website called Legal Eagle to help shippers better protect themselves against legal problems and pitfalls.

Managing Partner, Andrew Traill emphasizes the need for shippers to be aware of this information and have readily available access to insights and opinions on the topic.

He said: “The law governing freight transport can be a confusing, dry and sometimes a mind-numbing subject for us non-specialists, but it is vitally important for everyone involved in shipping goods around the world – and can cost millions if companies do not comply.”

Legal Eagle will look at a range of case law related to recent incidents and court cases and highlight the sort of small print and inconsistencies that can cause problems when there are disputes about liability if problems arise.

“Following legal case law can provide an important insight which might just help us learn from other people’s mistakes. It can also encourage the spread of best practice,” explains Dr Traill.

The host website, www.shippersvoice.com is already held in high regard among those in the industry and is renowned for providing a range of information, policy and insight relevant to importers, exporters, wholesalers, manufacturers and others who ship goods around the world.

The service provider strives to constantly inform those within the industry of the latest news and information and subsequently for its latest venture has teamed up with ForwardLaw, a network of lawyers who practice international transport law for clients in the freight industry, particularly freight forwarders and logistics companies.

Dr Traill added: “We are always keen to expand our service, and will be on the lookout for any other similar service provided which we believe visitors to our site will be interested in.”
