The logistics provider’s facility will serve as a transhipment platform for the Group’s growing activities in the field of international transport and as multi-user warehouse for its contract logistics customers.

The new logistics platform measures 16,000 square meters and features 54 loading and unloading bays, site perimeter fencing, video surveillance and radio frequency systems.

In order to meet the latest safety regulations and environmental requirements, the facility is equipped with a designated area for the handling of hazardous goods.

Kuehne + Nagel currently employs 180 people at the facility.

The Port of Barcelona logistics areas “ZAL” has direct access to the port facilities and to the airport. It is also connected to more than 30 countries throughout Europe due to Kuehne + Nagel’s road groupage network.

Miguel Ambielle, managing director of the Spanish Kuehne + Nagel organization, commented: “The opening of this new facility in Catalonia is a further step in our strategy to extend our logistics activities and will increase our capability in providing customer-oriented services in the Barcelona area.”
