University of Texas launches supply chain degrees
The University of Texas at Dallas’ School of Management has unveiled a supply chain management program
The School of Management’s Executive Education area is offering the program with several options, including a master’s degree in Supply Management and an Executive MBA with an emphasis on supply chain management.
Dr. Divakar Rajamani, the program’s director, explained that the Product Lifecycle and Supply Chain Management EMBA program will provide students with a practical approach to business – “from product design to production, marketing to service, and distribution to disposal”.
The University said the courses will focus on educating executives and industry-sponsored employees in the disciplines of product lifecycles and supply chain management.
It is geared towards experts in manufacturing, engineering, product development, procurement, distribution, warehousing, logistics, IT and consulting.
William Wissing, senior vice president of distribution and logistics at Blockbuster Inc and one of the program’s advisory board members, said: “For businesses to thrive, it is essential that individuals understand product lifecycles and supply chain management.
“They must have the ability to educate the organizations on the need to collaborate across all disciplines to maximize a product potential to the company,” Wissing added.
The courses will help executives take on roles such as product manager, operations manager, general manager or business partner with an interest in managing projects across multiple disciplines.
