Second phase contracts issued for Tyne and Wear metro improvements

The agreement spans three years with the possibility for a two-year extension

The Passenger Transport Executive Nexus for Tyne and Wear, located in Northeast England, has distributed contract tenders for the second phase of its Metro Asset Renewal Plan (ARP).
The project will include railway station renovations, signaling and telecommunications upgrades, as well as permanent way and overhead line refurbishment and replacement.
The US $141 million-plus contract spans three years with the possibility for a two-year extension. ARP is the $425.3 million second phase of the Metro Reinvigoration Program, expected to be completed between 2010 and 2019.
