Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation, has won a contract to work on the SR 579 Veterans/Crosstown Boulevard Bridge Preservation Project in Pittsburgh, PA. The overall project involves the rehabilitation and/or preservation of 12 bridges including the main spans of Veterans Bridge over the Allegheny River, the company reports. With the $2 million project-specific, open-end agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Michael Baker Jr., Inc. and its subconsultants will conduct bridge inspection, structural analysis and rehabilitation design; drainage design, utility coordination, maintenance and protection of traffic; asbestos investigation, paint evaluation, railroad coordination, field surveys, right-of-way, and public involvement services.
