Atlas will make small shipment transport easier as well as increase its UK market

By Sarah Wolfe

Atlas World Group is undergoing a couple of significant changes to increase services and its presence in the UK.

First, the company’s subsidiary, Accel Transportation, has acquired the assets of Denver-based Smart Move, which provides container-based household relocation services for more than 60 markets. Accel Transportation will change its name to Smart Move Transportation, and will build on the full-service solution it’s currently offering.

In a company press release, Atlas World Group Chairman & CEO Glen Dunkerson notes the relocation industry has historically struggled with small shipments that many van lines don’t want to touch.

“Smart Move now allows Atlas to offer a solution to transport small shipments safely and quickly,” he states.

The Smart Move service is based on SmartVault™ technology, with transportable vaults customers can load and unload themselves. This hands-on approach can cut a week or more off standard delivery schedules.

Second, Atlas World Group has also sold its Southampton company, Vanpac International, to expand its UK market. Fox Group, a moving and storage company, will now serve as Atlas’ exclusive agent in the UK, and will continue both domestic and international household relocations, storage and other logistics services.
