Maritime Group: Acquires DHL Container Logistics

Maritime Group Limited has acquired DHL Container Logistics, the container haulage arm of DHL, in a share purchase deal

The deal was effective from January 1, 2010, and the new company has been renamed Maritime Container Logistics.

The sale will allow Maritime to develop its interests in container transport and for DHL Freight to concentrate on its core services in the UK.

Commenting on the acquisition, John Williams, Managing Director of Maritime Group, said: "DHL Container Logistics is an excellent fit for our business, with complementary depots and customer base.

"Not only have we been able to strengthen our UK network, we will extend our service offering to customers too."

Managing Director of DHL Freight, Jeroen Eijsink, said that the agreement had secured the company's future "under the wings of a strong market leader" that was committed to the container transport sector.

Maritime Transport is the largest privately-owned container transport operator in the UK.
