Freightliner takes delivery of PowerHaul locomotives
Freightliner Group Ltd has taken delivery of the first PowerHaul locomotives which are set to provide greater hauling capacity.

The locomotives, which will also make significant improvements to fuel economy, will now undergo commissioning before entering service. Freightliner's existing fleet comprises more than 160 locomotives.
Commenting on the new additions to the UK's rail freight market, Tim Shakerley, Engineering Director, said: "This product is a culmination of two years of hard work and partnership with GE, in order to produce a locomotive that will increase our haulage capabilities and bring further reduction to our carbon emissions."
Representing GE Transportation's entry to the UK and European marketplace, the PowerHaul locomotives were manufactured in Pennsylvania, U.S., where comprehensive testing on the vehicles was completed.
